Efficient blow-molding machines for pipes

 

Since the development of the first blow-molded parts with complex shapes, such as ventilation pipes, Kautex Maschinenbau has been working with customers to make processes even more efficient, thereby further reducing waste and achieving efficient production.

 

Today, we offer our customers two processes: the horizontal process, in which the robot places the parison into the horizontal mold before blowing, and the suction blow-molding process, in which the parison is sucked out of the closed mold. As the first manufacturer of two-station blow-molding machines, we are proud of our extensive experience.

 

Our two well-established processes allow you to produce a wide range of 3D parts with a minimum of raw materials. With Sequential Coextrusion (SeCo), you can also combine soft and hard materials without the need for additional connectors, which reduces installation steps and saves costs.

Composite pressure vessels

Pressure vessels made of thermoplastic composites for storing gases and liquids are gaining more and more attention today. They consist of a thermoplastic liner, a seat for connecting the valves and a fiber wound layer for mechanical stability. Pressure vessels made of composite materials are much lighter than conventional steel cylinders, are completely corrosion-resistant and are less expensive.

Type IV composite pressure vessels for the automotive industry

We live in a time of rapid change, and the drive technology of various vehicles is being radically changed. In addition to battery-powered drives, manufacturers are also increasingly focusing on the use of drive systems powered by compressed natural gas and hydrogen. They need to withstand high pressure loads and climate change, and the most important thing is to ensure the safe storage of fuel. The use of type IV composite pressure vessels in the automotive field is therefore of particular importance.

Kautex Maschinenbau has a research and development center for thermoplastic composite pressure vessels (CPV). In addition to gas tanks for gas vehicles, we have also carried out a lot of work on hydrogen composite pressure vessels and pressure vessels for brake systems and hybrid drive systems.

There is nothing we cannot surpass! Through continuous research and development, we are able to produce nylon (PA) liners for hydrogen bottles with a capacity of 300 liters and above. We work hard every day to keep moving forward.

Hydrogen storage and transport solutions for future mobility
Hydrogen is an alternative to fossil fuels and battery-powered systems, but it places high demands on the impermeability of the pressure bottle liner material. Hydrogen pressure bottles are designed for an operating pressure of 700 bar and a burst pressure of 1750 bar.

 

Special polyamide (PA) materials have the best barrier properties. In cooperation with well-known plastic manufacturers, we have developed a blow molding process that can produce PA liner for hydrogen pressure bottles with a diameter of more than 500 mm and a length of 2500 mm.

 

Composite pressure vessels: a lighter and safer alternative to steel tanks
Natural gas has a firm position in the market as an alternative fuel for cars, trucks and buses, and many vehicles are equipped with steel or aluminum gas tanks. Thermoplastic composite pressure vessels (CPV) have become an attractively priced alternative in terms of economic benefits.

 

The CPVs we developed are more reliable, lighter and available in a variety of sizes than conventional steel tanks. Each tank can be reduced by up to 77% in weight. These composite pressure vessels are designed for an operating pressure of 250 bar and a burst pressure of 700 bar.

 

Pneumatic brake systems: Extra light and extra safe
Pneumatic brake systems are mainly used in trucks. They use compressed air instead of the brake fluid commonly used in most vehicles, so they require strong pressure vessels.

 

The composite pressure vessels we offer can replace traditional steel and aluminum pressure bottles. In contrast, they are not only cheaper to produce, but also significantly lighter: 65% lighter than steel bottles and 30% lighter than aluminum bottles. In addition, composite pressure vessels are completely corrosion-resistant and can provide a variety of interfaces.

Composite gas cylinders for domestic use

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is an efficient energy source for cooking, heating and water heaters and is usually stored in steel tanks.

 

Composite pressure vessels offer decisive advantages in this regard: they are explosion-proof, corrosion-resistant and lighter than steel tanks; and because the tanks are transparent, the liquid level can be seen at all times.

Composite gas cylinders can bring great advantages to their users in terms of safety and quality. The materials of LPG composite gas cylinders are completely resistant to corrosion and solar ultraviolet radiation; they are resistant to rain, temperature fluctuations and other external interferences, and are explosion-proof even in the case of open flames and high temperatures. The valves of this type of pressure vessel are very strong and collision-proof. Even though LPG composite gas cylinders are 50% lighter than traditional steel cylinders, their burst pressure still exceeds 120 bar.
